Lausanne Sightseeing

Lausanne's most-visited site is its imposing Gothic cathedral, which sits high on a hill overlooking the city, the lake and the elegant Lausanne University.

The cathedral, which has grand towers and turrets and a spectacular stained-glass window, was consecrated in 1275 and can be explored on a guided tour.

Most visitors also spend some time at the Olympic Museum, which covers the Olympic movement and the history of the Olympic Games, including Sydney 2000.

The museum is interactive, with touch screens and buttons you can push for information on athletes, Olympic cities and how the Games have been organised.

You need at least 90 minutes to see the museum and many people spend a full day, having lunch at the restaurant, which has great views across the lakee.

Before or after visiting the museum, enjoy a walk through the lush parklands of the harbour foreshore.
